Mid-s vintage brass Anchor Lantern. This type of lantern was used to warn other vessels that they were anchored (not underway) at night. Based on the design, materials used, and quality it was likely built by the Perkins Marine Lamp & Hardware Co., but the "PERKO" tag is not attached. Overall, it measures 10½? tall x 4½? wide, weighs 2 lbs, and is equipped with six brass guards to protect the 3½" x 4? 360º clear dioptric (ribbed) clear lens. The lantern originally had a oil burning font which has been replaced with 110 volt lighting. It doesn't appear to have had a lot of sea duty and is in exceptional condition. This nautical artifact is a nice example of U.S. Maritime history.
